Free measurement  |  Stitched to size  |  Rods & tracks supplied

Buying curtains comes down to four decisions: the fabric, the lining, the header style and the size. Get the first three right and the room looks the way you pictured it. Get the fourth wrong — and most people do, by measuring the window instead of the rod — and even expensive fabric hangs badly. This page covers all four.

1. Fabrics We Supply

Blackout

Dense woven or coated fabric that stops light through the cloth. The bedroom default, and the best answer to west-facing afternoon sun.

Sheer & Net

Light, translucent fabric for daytime privacy without losing daylight. Almost always layered with a heavier curtain.

Cotton & Cotton Blend

Breathable, easy to wash, wide colour range. The practical everyday choice for living rooms and kids' rooms.

Linen & Linen Look

Relaxed texture and natural drape. Creases readily — part of the look, but worth knowing before you buy.

Velvet

Heavy, rich, excellent at blocking light and absorbing sound. Formal living rooms and media rooms. Needs professional cleaning.

Jacquard & Textured

Woven patterns with body and sheen for a dressier finish, without needing a print.

Choosing between sheer and blackout? They are not competitors — most rooms want both, on a double track. Our guide to blackout vs sheer curtains covers the layering properly.

2. Lining — The Part Buyers Skip

Lining is invisible and does most of the work. It is also where a cheap quote quietly saves money:

LiningWhat It DoesWorth It When
UnlinedFabric alone — light passes through, drape is thinnerSheers, decorative-only curtains, tight budgets
Standard liningImproves drape and body, protects face fabric from sun fadeAlmost any curtain you want to last
Blackout liningBlocks light through the cloth; lets you keep a decorative face fabricBedrooms, media rooms, day sleepers
Thermal liningReduces heat gain and loss through the glassWest-facing rooms, harsh summer exposure
Sun fade is the quiet killer of curtains in India. An unlined curtain on a bright window fades along the leading edge within a couple of seasons. Lining doubles as sun protection for the fabric you actually chose, which is why it is rarely a saving worth making.

3. Header Styles

HeaderLook & OperationFullness Needed
Eyelet / grommetContemporary, even wave folds, slides easily on a rod — the practical everyday choiceAbout 2x rod width
Pinch pleatTailored and formal; hangs from hooks on a track or rings2 – 2.5x
Pencil pleatClassic gathered header, adjustable tape2 – 2.5x
Rod pocketSimple sewn channel; economical but does not slide freelyAbout 2x
Tab topCasual fabric loops over the rodAbout 2x

4. Sizes & How Much Fabric

Ready-made curtains in India are generally sold in three drops. Treat these as the common market convention, not a guaranteed specification — panel widths and drops differ between brands, sometimes by several inches:

NameTypical DropUsually Used For
Window curtain~5 ft (60 in)Standard bedroom and kitchen windows
Door curtain~7 ft (84 in)Doorways and tall windows
Long door curtain~9 ft (108 in)Floor-length windows, French windows, high ceilings
Panel width~4 – 4.5 ftVaries by brand — always confirm
The rule that matters: measure the rod, not the window, and multiply by 2 to 2.5 for fullness. If your drop falls between two ready-made sizes, order the longer one and have it hemmed — you cannot add length to a short curtain. Full method in our measuring guide, or let us measure free on site.

Care & Longevity

  • Vacuum or shake monthly. Dust is what dulls curtain colour in Indian cities, long before wear does.
  • Check the wash label before washing. Cotton and polyester blends usually wash at home; velvet, heavy jacquard and most blackout-coated fabrics need dry cleaning, and washing them can ruin the coating.
  • Expect some shrinkage on the first wash of natural fabrics. Made-to-measure curtains are stitched with this in mind — another reason to say if a fabric will be home washed.
  • Rotate panels on a bright window so fading is even rather than concentrated on one leading edge.
  • Line them. The cheapest way to make curtains last in strong sunlight.

What Determines the Price of Curtains

We quote per window rather than publishing a rate card, because the same window can differ two or three-fold depending on specification. These are the real drivers:

  • Fabric — the biggest factor by far. A basic polyester and a premium jacquard or velvet are different brackets entirely
  • Fullness — you pay for fabric, not window width, and 2.5x fullness uses 25% more cloth than 2x on the same rod
  • Lining — blackout and thermal linings add both material and stitching
  • Drop — floor-length and long-door curtains use considerably more fabric than window drops
  • Header style — eyelet is generally the most economical to make; pinch pleat needs more fabric and more labour
  • Rod, track and hardware — a real line item, and the one most often missing from a cheap quote. Double tracks for sheer-plus-heavy layering cost more than a single rod
  • Motorised tracks — worthwhile on very wide, heavy or high runs, and need a power point planned near the window
Where to spend and where to save: spend on lining and on the track — both are invisible and both decide whether the curtain works and lasts. Save, if you must, on the face fabric of a window nobody looks at closely. It is the opposite of how most people budget.

Supply Across Delhi NCR

We supply, stitch, measure and install curtains from Noida (U.P.) and Faridabad (Haryana), covering Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad. Curtains are stitched to your measurements, so the sequence is: free site measurement, fabric selection, stitching, then installation including rods or tracks.

For society and commercial buildings, please arrange gate entry and lift access in advance and tell us the floor when booking — full-length curtain rods and tracks need clear access through lifts and stairwell turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the standard curtain sizes in India?
Ready-made curtains are commonly sold in three drops — around 5 ft for windows, 7 ft for doors and 9 ft for long doors or floor-length windows — with panel widths usually around 4 to 4.5 ft. These are market conventions rather than a fixed standard and vary between brands, so confirm the exact panel width and drop before calculating panel counts. Made-to-measure avoids the problem, being stitched to your window.
How much fabric do I need for curtains?
Multiply the rod width by 2 for eyelet, or 2 to 2.5 for pleated styles, to get total fabric width. Curtains cut to the exact window width hang flat and look poor. A 6 ft rod therefore needs about 12 ft of total fabric width for eyelet, spread across however many panels the fabric width allows. For stitched-to-size curtains, add 4 to 8 inches to the drop for header and hem.
Which curtain fabric is best for Indian summers?
A heavy lined curtain does most of the work — blackout or thermal lining blocks direct sun and keeps a room noticeably cooler, which matters most on west-facing windows. Cotton and linen breathe and suit milder rooms but do little against harsh afternoon sun. A common, effective arrangement is a sheer for daytime privacy plus a heavy lined curtain drawn through the hottest hours.
What is the difference between eyelet and pleated curtains?
Eyelet curtains have metal rings punched into the header and slide directly onto a rod, giving even wave folds, a contemporary look and the easiest operation. Pleated styles — pinch, box or pencil — are gathered and stitched at the top and hang from hooks on a track or rings, giving a more formal, tailored look and usually needing more fabric. Eyelet is the practical everyday choice; pleated looks dressier.
Do blackout curtains really block all light?
Blackout fabric blocks essentially all light through the cloth, but light still enters around the edges — above the rod, at the sides, under the hem. For genuine darkness the rod must extend well beyond the window on both sides, the curtain must be wider than the opening, and the drop should go below the sill or to the floor. Fabric alone is not enough; fit is what darkens a room.
How much do made-to-measure curtains cost?
We quote per window, because fabric, fullness, lining, drop, header style and hardware each move the figure substantially — a single per-window rate would mislead. Send your window sizes and a photo, or book a free measurement, and we will quote firmly. If you have a budget in mind, tell us and we will show you which fabric and lining combination fits it.
What is the minimum order, and do you install in Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Delhi?
There is no minimum — a single window is fine, though cost per window falls across a larger order as measurement and installation time is spread. We supply and install across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations. Please arrange society gate entry and lift access in advance and tell us the floor when booking.
