The same curtain rarely suits two rooms. A bedroom needs darkness, a living room needs flexible light and a bit of drama, a kids' room needs washing and cordless safety, and a kitchen needs something you can wipe rather than launder. Below is what we actually recommend room by room, including where we would tell you to use a blind instead.

Living Room

The room that benefits most from layering. A sheer gives daytime privacy without shutting out light; a heavier lined curtain over it handles afternoon sun and closes the room in the evening. Two layers need a double track or a double rod — worth deciding now, because retrofitting a second track later means new fixings and often new curtains.

  • Length: floor length, finishing about ½ to 1 inch above the floor
  • Fabric: cotton blends for an easy look; jacquard or velvet for something more formal
  • Rod: extend 6–12 inches beyond the frame on each side so curtains stack clear of the glass
  • Bonus: heavy fabric noticeably reduces echo in a hard-floored living room — see noise reduction at home

Bedroom

Here the job is darkness, and fabric is only half of it. Blackout cloth blocks light through the curtain; the fit stops it coming round the edges. Get both right and an east-facing bedroom stays dark past sunrise.

For…Specify
Genuine darknessBlackout fabric or blackout lining, rod extended well past the frame, drop below sill or to floor
Darkness without a heavy lookDecorative face fabric with blackout lining behind it
Hot west-facing bedroomThermal lining — reduces heat gain as well as light
Day sleepers / shift workBlackout curtains over a blackout roller blind — the only combination that gets close to total dark

Kids' Room

Choose cordless operation, or keep cords short and secured out of reach. Looped cords on curtains and blinds are a recognised strangulation hazard for young children. This is worth insisting on regardless of what it adds to the cost, and we will fit cord cleats or cordless mechanisms as standard in a child's room if you tell us the room's use.
  • Blackout for daytime naps — the single most appreciated feature by parents
  • Washable cotton or polyester blends, not dry-clean-only fabrics
  • Sill length stays cleaner and is harder to pull on than floor length
  • Darker or patterned fabric hides marks far better than pale plains

Kitchen & Utility

We will say this plainly even though it moves you to a cheaper product: fabric curtains are a poor choice in a kitchen. They absorb cooking grease and smells, need frequent washing, and sit near a hob. If you want fabric, use a short sill-length washable cotton kept well clear of the flame. Otherwise use PVC blinds or a wipeable roller blind, which is what we recommend for most kitchens.

Choosing Colour Without Regretting It

  • Look at fabric in the actual room, at the actual time of day you use it. Showroom lighting flatters everything, and Delhi afternoon light is far warmer than an LED-lit shop.
  • Pale plains show every mark — and in a dusty city, that is a lot of washing.
  • Match the curtain to the wall, not the sofa. Sofas get replaced; walls do not, and a curtain that fights the wall colour never settles.
  • Big patterns need fullness to read properly. On a narrow window the pattern gets lost in the gathers.
  • Consider fade exposure. On a bright window, mid-tones hold up visually better than very dark or very saturated colours.

What Determines the Price of Home Curtains

We quote per window rather than publishing a rate card — the same window varies two to three-fold by specification. The drivers:

  • Fabric — the biggest factor; basic polyester to premium velvet or jacquard is a wide range
  • Fullness — you pay for cloth, not window width; 2.5x uses 25% more than 2x on the same rod
  • Lining — blackout and thermal add material and stitching, and are the least visible place your money does the most work
  • Drop — floor-length uses considerably more fabric than sill length
  • Layering — a sheer plus a heavy curtain is effectively two curtains and a double track
  • Hardware — rods, tracks, double tracks and finials are a real line item, and the usual omission from a cheap quote
  • Number of windows — cost per window falls as measurement and installation time spreads
If the budget is tight: do the bedroom properly with blackout lining and economise on a spare room, rather than spreading a thin specification across the whole house. Unlined curtains on a bright window fade within a couple of seasons and get replaced — which costs more than lining them once.

Supply Across Delhi NCR

We measure, stitch and install home curtains from Noida (U.P.) and Faridabad (Haryana), covering Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad. The sequence is a free site measurement, fabric selection at home with samples, stitching, then installation including rods or tracks.

For society buildings, arrange gate entry and lift access in advance and tell us the floor when booking — full-length rods and tracks need clear access through lifts and stairwell turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which curtains are best for a living room?
A double layer works best in most Indian living rooms: a sheer for daytime privacy that still admits light, plus a heavier lined curtain to draw against afternoon sun and in the evening. Floor length looks better than sill length here, and the rod should extend well beyond the window so curtains stack clear of the glass. Cotton blends, jacquard and velvet are the usual choices depending on formality.
Should bedroom curtains be blackout?
For most bedrooms, yes — blackout fabric or lining is what lets you sleep past sunrise, especially for shift workers, small children and east-facing rooms. Fabric is only half of it: light enters around the edges, so extend the rod beyond the window on both sides and take the drop below the sill or to the floor. Blackout lining behind a decorative face fabric gives darkness without an institutional look.
What curtains should I use in a kids' room?
Blackout for daytime naps, and washable cotton or polyester blends rather than dry-clean-only fabrics. Most importantly, choose cordless operation or keep cords short and secured out of reach — looped cords are a recognised strangulation hazard for young children. Sill-length curtains also stay cleaner and are harder to pull on than floor-length ones.
Are curtains a good idea in a kitchen?
Generally no — fabric absorbs cooking grease and smells and needs frequent washing. If you want a soft look, use a short sill-length washable cotton kept well away from the hob. For most kitchens a PVC blind or wipeable roller blind is the more practical answer, and it is what we usually recommend.
How long should living room curtains be?
Floor length is standard, finishing about half an inch to an inch above the floor so the hem does not drag and collect dust. A puddled finish with two to four inches pooling looks luxurious but collects dust and needs frequent cleaning. Sill length suits small windows, kitchens and windows with furniture beneath, but usually looks undersized in a main living room.
How much do home curtains cost?
We quote per window, because fabric, fullness, lining, drop, layering and hardware each move the figure substantially. Send window sizes and a photo of each room, or book a free measurement, and we will quote firmly with fabric, stitching and hardware as separate lines. Tell us your budget and we will show you which fabric and lining combination fits it.
What is the minimum order, and do you install in Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Delhi?
No minimum — a single window is fine, though cost per window falls across a larger order. We measure, stitch and install across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations. Please arrange society gate entry and lift access in advance and tell us the floor when booking.

We'll measure every window, show you fabrics in your own light, advise room by room — including where a blind would serve you better — and quote from exact figures.

Fabrics, sizes and room recommendations described here are general guidance for options commonly available in the Indian market, not a stock list or quotation. Fabric care requirements vary — follow the care label supplied. For child safety, cordless or secured short-cord operation is recommended in any room used by young children.
