Real texture and shadow, not a printed pattern. Fitted over the wall that is already there — and the material you choose matters far more than the profile.

Decorative panels are what people mean now when they say feature wall. Fluted ribs, deep louvers, 3D relief — surfaces that catch light and throw fine shadows that shift through the day. They enhance interior aesthetics in a way paint cannot, they are ideal for feature and accent walls, they come in a wide range of modern designs and textures, and they are low maintenance and long-lasting. They also hide a damaged wall completely. The decision that actually matters is which material, because that is what decides whether the wall still looks right in five years.

The Five Materials

MaterialCharacterUse ItAvoid
WPC louvers Wood-plastic composite. Dense, moisture-proof, wood-look films Anywhere — including near kitchens, balconies and damp walls Nowhere significant
Charcoal louvers Bamboo fibre with charcoal. Light, low-odour, very stable Feature walls, ceilings, large areas where weight matters Heavy-impact zones
MDF fluted Wood fibre board. The crispest edges and best paint finish Dry bedrooms, living rooms, offices Anywhere damp — swelling is permanent
PVC / 3D panels Lightest and cheapest. Moulded relief patterns Budget feature walls, rentals, quick refits Walls that get knocked — can dent
Acrylic-faced High-gloss mirror or marble effect on a board substrate Reception areas, retail, statement walls Sunlit walls — shows every fingerprint and scratch
The one mistake worth avoiding: MDF near water. MDF fluted panels have the best finish of the lot, which is why they get specified so often — and they swell irreversibly if moisture reaches the core. Once that happens the panel cannot be dried out or repaired, only replaced. On any wall adjoining a kitchen, bathroom, balcony or external face, use WPC or charcoal instead. We will say so at the survey rather than supply what fails.

Fluted or Louvered?

Fluted — Fine Ribs

Narrow, closely spaced ribs. Subtle, even shadow lines that read as texture rather than as a statement. The safer choice on a large wall, in a small room, or behind a TV where you do not want the wall competing with the screen.

Louvered — Deep Fins

Deeper, more widely spaced fins with strong shadow gaps. Far more dramatic, and it changes markedly as light moves across the day. Best on a single feature wall, a reception backdrop or a headboard wall — it can overwhelm a small room.

Rule of thumb: the smaller the room, the finer the flute. Deep louvers in a compact bedroom eat visual space and make the wall feel closer; fine fluting gives you the texture without the bulk. In a double-height space or a large reception, the opposite applies — fine flutes disappear at a distance.

Most projects mix them: panels on the feature wall, wallpaper or paint on the rest. For wet walls use PVC wall panels, which have sealed joints and cost less.

What Determines the Price

  • Material — PVC at the bottom, WPC and charcoal in the middle, premium MDF and acrylic-faced at the top
  • Profile depth — deep louvers use more material per square foot than fine flutes
  • Finish — realistic wood grains, marble effects and mirror acrylic cost more than solid colours
  • Wall condition — a flat wall takes direct bonding; an uneven one needs battens, adding material and labour
  • Trims and cut-outs — corners, edges, sockets and switch plates are the slow, skilled part
  • Lighting integration — profile lighting or LED strips within the panelling add electrical work
  • Area — a single feature wall carries a higher rate per sq ft than a whole-room job
Where to spend: the material, matched to the room's moisture. A cheap panel in the wrong material fails; an expensive one in the wrong material fails just as fast. Where to save: profile — fine fluting costs less than deep louvers and often suits the room better anyway.

Supply & Installation Across Delhi NCR

We supply and install decorative wall panels from Noida (U.P.) and Faridabad (Haryana), covering Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad — homes, offices, retail, hotels and restaurants.

We check the wall on site before quoting, because flatness decides whether panels bond directly or need a batten framework, and that changes both the price and the finished depth. Expert guidance on design and material selection, and a feature wall is usually finished in a day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are fluted wall panels?
Fluted panels are boards with vertical ribs or grooves running along their length, so the surface casts fine shadow lines that shift as the light moves. Louvered panels are the same idea with deeper, more widely spaced fins. Both give a wall real physical texture instead of a printed pattern, which is why they photograph so well and why they have become the default feature wall in Indian interiors. They come in WPC, bamboo charcoal, MDF and PVC, and the material matters far more than the profile.
WPC or MDF fluted panels — which should I choose?
WPC for anywhere that might get damp, MDF for dry rooms where finish quality matters most. WPC has a wood-plastic core that does not swell with moisture, so it is safe near kitchens, bathrooms, balconies and external walls. MDF is a wood-fibre board with a superior painted or laminated finish and crisper edges, but it swells irreversibly if water reaches it and cannot be recovered once that happens. In a Delhi NCR flat, a bedroom or living room wall is fine in MDF; anything adjoining a wet area should be WPC.
Are charcoal louvers the same as WPC?
They are closely related but not identical. Bamboo charcoal panels use bamboo fibre with charcoal in the composite, which makes them light, low-odour and dimensionally stable, and they are usually sold with a co-extruded surface film. WPC uses wood flour with PVC and tends to be denser and heavier. In practice both are moisture tolerant and both are fitted the same way, so the choice usually comes down to the finish range and the price on the day rather than performance.
Can decorative panels be fitted over an existing wall?
Yes, and that is normally how it is done — over plaster, paint or even tiles, with no demolition. A flat, sound wall takes adhesive directly. An uneven one needs a light batten framework first, which adds a little cost and a little wall thickness. Either way the wall gains depth, so check clearances at door frames, switches and skirting before starting. Panels also hide a damaged or patchy wall completely, which is often the real reason people choose them.
Are decorative panels hard to clean?
Fluted and louvered profiles collect dust in the grooves — that is the honest trade-off for the texture. A dry microfibre cloth or a vacuum brush attachment run vertically along the flutes takes care of it, and on a wall that is not touched much that is a few minutes every couple of weeks. Smooth 3D and acrylic-faced panels wipe clean far more easily. If low maintenance matters more than texture, choose a flatter profile or a smooth panel.
Do decorative panels help with sound?
They help, but they do not soundproof. A fluted or louvered surface breaks up reflections and reduces echo, so a room with a lot of hard surfaces sounds noticeably calmer and speech is clearer — useful in living rooms, home offices and conference rooms. What they will not do is stop noise passing through the wall, which requires mass and isolation, not surface texture. For genuine acoustic performance you need slat panels with a felt backing, which is a different product.
Do you supply and install decorative panels across Delhi NCR?
Yes — homes, offices, retail, hotels and restaurants across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations. We check the wall on site before quoting, since flatness decides whether panels can be bonded directly or need a batten framework, and that changes both the price and the finished depth. Feature walls are usually completed in a day.

Plan Your Feature Wall

Send us the wall dimensions and a photo of the room. We'll recommend the material for the moisture and the profile for the room size, check whether the wall takes direct bonding, and quote material and fitting separately.

Materials, profiles, sizes and finishes described here are the options commonly available in the Indian market and are general guidance, not a stock list or quotation. Moisture behaviour differs sharply between materials — MDF is not suitable for damp locations. Acoustic benefit is a reduction in reflected sound within the room, not sound insulation between rooms. Wall condition can only be assessed on site and determines the fixing method, the cost and the finished depth.
