Zebra Blinds in Delhi NCR — Day-Night Light Control

Alternating sheer and opaque bands on one tube. Slide the layers to dial light from filtered daylight to nearly closed — without taking the blind up or down.

Adjustable light, not just on/off  |  Cassette finish  |  Motorised options

Zebra blinds — also sold as day-night, dual or twin roller blinds — solve the problem every other roller blind has: you are not choosing between open and closed. One fabric carries alternating sheer and opaque stripes in two layers, and sliding those layers against each other gives a continuous range of light levels. It is the most useful blind in a living room or a study, and the most misunderstood in a bedroom.

How the Light Control Actually Works

Band PositionEffect in the RoomGood For
Sheer over sheerMaximum filtered light, view largely retainedMorning, dull days, keeping the view
Part offsetAny level in between — dial it to tasteThe reason people buy zebra blinds
Opaque over sheerRoom darkened, glare killed, privacy by dayAfternoon sun, screen work, TV
Blind fully raisedClear glass, cassette only visibleCleaning, full view
Be clear about night-time privacy before you order. Closed bands give good daytime privacy, but after dark with the lights on, the sheer bands still let silhouettes show from outside. For a bedroom or a ground-floor room facing a street, either specify a blackout zebra fabric or plan a curtain over the blind for evening use. This is the one thing buyers most often discover after installation.

Band Alignment on Wide Windows

Above roughly 6–7 ft a zebra blind is better split into two units. When that happens, the striped bands of the two blinds must line up horizontally — if one sits even slightly higher than the other, the mismatch runs the full height of the window and is the first thing anyone notices.

  • Order both units together, from the same fabric batch, so band widths and colour match exactly
  • Align at installation, not afterwards — the adjustment is at the bracket, and it is far easier before the room is furnished
  • Operate them to the same level in daily use, or the alignment advantage is lost anyway
  • On three or more units across a window wall, alignment is genuinely difficult to maintain — vertical blinds or a single wide roller may be the better specification

Care

  • Dust with a soft brush or vacuum brush attachment, blind fully lowered, working downward. Dust settles on the horizontal band edges and shows quickly.
  • Spot clean gently with a barely damp cloth. Rubbing hard marks the fabric coating permanently, and it cannot be restored.
  • Never soak the fabric — water travels along the bands and leaves tide marks.
  • Do not force a jammed chain. On a dual-layer blind, forcing it can misalign the two layers, which is a mechanism repair rather than an adjustment.
  • Operate from the centre of the bottom rail so the fabric stays running square on the tube.

What Determines the Price of Zebra Blinds

We quote per window rather than publishing a rate card. The drivers:

  • Fabric — the biggest factor. A plain standard zebra and a designer or blackout zebra fabric are different brackets
  • Opacity — blackout zebra fabrics cost more than standard translucent, and are what you need for a bedroom
  • Window area — priced largely by size, with small blinds carrying a minimum because fabrication time does not scale down
  • Cassette or open roll — a covered aluminium cassette looks more finished and costs more than an exposed tube
  • Mechanism — side chain is the baseline; motorisation is the largest single jump and needs power planned at the window
  • Splitting a wide window — two units cost more than one, but above about 6–7 ft it is usually the only workable option
  • Number of windows — cost per window falls as measurement and installation time spreads
Worth paying for: the cassette, on any window at eye level. An open roll shows the fabric roll and brackets, and on an otherwise well-finished room it is the detail that looks unfinished. Worth not paying for: a premium fabric on a window nobody looks at closely.

Supply Across Delhi NCR

We measure, supply and install zebra blinds from Noida (U.P.) and Faridabad (Haryana), covering Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad. Because zebra blinds need adequate recess depth for the cassette, we check that at measurement rather than discovering it on installation day.

For society and commercial buildings, please arrange gate entry and lift access in advance and tell us the floor when booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are zebra blinds and how do they work?
Zebra blinds — also sold as day-night or dual roller blinds — use one fabric printed in alternating sheer and opaque horizontal bands, wrapped around a single tube in two layers. Moving the chain slides the layers against each other, so the bands either line up opaque-over-sheer to darken the room, or sheer-over-sheer for filtered light. That gives a continuous range of light levels rather than simply up or down.
Do zebra blinds give complete privacy at night?
With bands closed they give good daytime privacy, but at night with lights on inside, the sheer bands still allow silhouettes to be visible from outside. For a bedroom or a ground-floor room facing a street, specify a blackout zebra fabric or add a curtain over the blind for evening use. This is the most common misunderstanding about zebra blinds, so it is worth settling before you order.
Are zebra blinds better than roller blinds?
Better where you want to vary light through the day — living rooms, studies, offices — because you can dial the level rather than choosing open or closed. A plain roller is simpler, cheaper and better where you only need one state, such as a blackout bedroom. Zebra blinds cost more, have more moving parts, and their sheer bands mean they are not a true blackout on their own.
How wide can a zebra blind be?
Practically, a single unit is usually kept to around 6 to 7 feet. Beyond that the tube carries too much weight, operation gets heavy and the fabric can deflect, so a wide window is better as two units side by side. When splitting, the striped bands of adjacent units must be aligned at installation or the mismatch is immediately visible. The exact limit depends on fabric and tube.
Can zebra blinds be used in a kitchen or bathroom?
Not ideally. The fabric absorbs cooking grease and steam and cannot be wiped clean like a PVC slat, and moisture affects both fabric and mechanism over time. For kitchens, bathrooms and utility areas use PVC blinds or a wipeable roller fabric. Keep zebra blinds for living rooms, bedrooms, studies and offices.
How much do zebra blinds cost?
We quote per window, because fabric, opacity, window area, cassette choice, mechanism and whether a wide window must be split all move the figure. Send window sizes and a photo, or book a free measurement, and we will quote firmly. Tell us your budget and we will show you which fabric fits it rather than quoting one option.
What is the minimum order, and do you install in Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Delhi?
No minimum — a single window is fine, though small blinds carry a minimum charge as fabrication time does not scale down, and cost per window falls across a larger order. We measure and install across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations. Please arrange gate entry and lift access in advance.

Get Zebra Blinds Measured Properly

We check recess depth for the cassette, confirm whether a wide window needs splitting, align bands across units at installation, and tell you honestly if you need blackout fabric for that room.

Fabrics, band patterns, mechanisms and width limits described here are the options commonly available in the Indian market and are general guidance, not a stock list or quotation. Maximum single-unit width depends on the fabric and tube supplied and is confirmed at measurement. Made-to-measure blinds are cut to order and cannot be resized or returned.
