"Rubber sheet" is not one product — it is a family of polymers that fail in completely different ways. EPDM shrugs off years of sun and rain but swells in oil. Nitrile handles oil and fuel but degrades outdoors. Choosing by price rather than by polymer is why gaskets fail early and matting perishes in a season. Tell us the exposure — oil, heat, weather, chemicals, impact — and the polymer choice becomes straightforward.

Polymers and What They Are For

Natural Rubber

Excellent tear strength, resilience and grip. General matting, anti-vibration pads, wear surfaces. Poor with oil and sunlight.

EPDM

The weather rubber. Sun, ozone, rain and wide temperature range. Outdoor gaskets, roofing membrane, window and door seals.

Nitrile (NBR)

The oil rubber. Fuel, oil and grease resistant. Workshop gaskets, machinery seals, automotive duty.

Neoprene (CR)

The all-rounder. Moderate oil resistance plus decent weather and flame resistance. General gaskets and pads.

SBR

Economical general-purpose sheet for non-critical matting, packing and protective layers.

Silicone

Extreme temperature range, high and low, and food-capable in the right grade. Oven and food-industry sealing.

Electrical insulating mats must be a certified grade. Matting for switch rooms and substations has to be tested and certified to the relevant standard for the working voltage — ordinary black rubber sheet of the same thickness is not equivalent and must never be substituted. State the voltage and application and we will supply a certified product with its test documentation, or tell you we cannot.

What Determines the Price of rubber sheet

We do not publish a rate card for rubber sheet, because a single per-sq-ft figure would be misleading — the same material can differ several-fold in price depending on the specification. These are the factors that actually move the number, so you can see where your own cost is going and where there is room to save:

Polymer — the dominant factor — silicone and specialist compounds cost multiples of commodity SBR and natural rubber
Thickness — priced by material volume; gasket-weight sheet and 25 mm matting are different brackets
Hardness & compound — specific Shore A grades and oil, heat or ozone resistant compounds cost more than general-purpose sheet
Reinforcement — fabric or nylon reinforced sheet for higher pressure duty costs more than plain
Surface pattern — smooth is the baseline; ribbed, studded and chequered patterns are priced above it
Cut gaskets — die-cut or water-jet gaskets to drawing are quoted as fabrication, not as sheet

Getting an accurate figure quickly: send the material, thickness, finished sizes and quantity, and say what the sheet has to do. That is enough to quote firmly. Two practical notes for delivery: full-size sheets need suitable vehicle access, and the usual constraint is not the sheet but the lift dimensions and staircase turns at the other end — tell us the floor and access when ordering. For site deliveries in a housing society or commercial complex, arrange gate entry and unloading help in advance, as large sheets need two people to handle safely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which rubber sheet is best for oil resistance?

Nitrile (NBR / Buna-N) is the standard wherever oil, fuel or grease is present — workshop gaskets, machinery seals, automotive duty. Natural rubber and EPDM both swell and degrade on contact with oil, so they are wrong for that duty however good they are elsewhere. If a gasket will see oil, specify nitrile rather than generic rubber sheet.

What is EPDM rubber sheet used for?

EPDM is the weather-resistant rubber — it handles sun, ozone, rain and a wide temperature range far better than natural rubber, so it suits outdoor gaskets, roofing membranes and window and door seals. Its weakness is oil and fuel, where nitrile should be used. For outdoor sealing, EPDM is normally correct.

What thickness of rubber sheet do I need for a gasket?

Gaskets are commonly cut from 1–6 mm sheet, with 3 mm the most widely used general thickness. Thicker sheet suits rough or uneven flange faces that need more material to conform. Hardness matters as much as thickness — a softer sheet (lower Shore A) seals better at low bolt pressure, a harder one resists being squeezed out under high pressure.

Can rubber sheet be used as gym flooring?

Yes — it is the standard material. Rubber in roll form or interlocking tiles absorbs dropped-weight impact, protects the slab, grips underfoot and deadens noise, which is the main complaint from floors below a gym. Thickness follows use: thinner for cardio and studio areas, substantially thicker for free-weight and deadlift zones.

How much do rubber sheet cost?

We quote per job rather than publishing a rate card, because the specification changes the price several-fold. The main drivers are material and grade, thickness, size and wastage, finish, and quantity. Send the material, thickness, finished sizes and quantity and we will quote firmly, usually the same working day. If you are comparing options, ask for the range across two or three specifications rather than one figure.

What is the minimum order quantity?

For stocked materials we can supply from a single cut piece upward, so there is no barrier to a small job. Non-stocked, imported or specially sourced grades usually carry a minimum set by the manufacturer, often a full sheet or a pack, plus a lead time. We will tell you the minimum and the lead time before you commit rather than after, and will say if a stocked alternative would do the same job sooner and cheaper.

Do you deliver to Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Delhi?

Yes. We supply across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations, and cut-to-size orders can also be collected. Full-size sheets need suitable vehicle access and two people to handle, and the usual constraint is the lift or staircase at the delivery end rather than the sheet itself, so tell us the floor and access when you order.
