PVC Flooring in Delhi NCR — Rolls, Planks & Rigid Core

Waterproof, quick to install, and available in four formats for four different jobs. The one figure that decides how long it lasts is the wear layer — and almost nobody is told what theirs is.

From ₹10/sq ft  |  Waterproof  |  Supplied & installed across Delhi NCR

PVC flooring and vinyl flooring are the same thing — PVC is the material, vinyl is the trade name. It has taken over Indian interiors because it is genuinely waterproof, it goes down over existing tiles without demolition, and it costs a fraction of stone or timber. What separates a floor that still looks new in eight years from one that looks tired in two is not the pattern or the brand. It is the wear layer.

Four Formats, Four Jobs

FormatBest ForWhy
Vinyl roll / sheet Large areas, hospitals, clinics, gyms, offices Wide rolls mean very few seams, and seams can be welded for a hygienic, water-tight floor
PVC plank (LVT) Homes, retail, reception areas Replicates wooden flooring convincingly, and a damaged plank can be swapped individually
PVC tile Stone-look floors, modular layouts Easy to install and replace, and patterns can be mixed
Rigid core (SPC / WPC) Uneven subfloors, wet areas, DIY-friendly installs Stiff enough to bridge minor imperfections, click-lock so no adhesive

Wear Layer — The Number That Actually Matters

The wear layer is the clear protective film above the printed design. Everything you walk on is that layer. When it wears through, the pattern goes with it and the floor cannot be repaired — only replaced. It is measured in millimetres, or in mil (thousandths of an inch), and it is the single best predictor of lifespan:

Wear LayerSuitsReality Check
0.1 – 0.2 mm (4–8 mil)Bedrooms, low-use domestic roomsEconomy grade. Will not survive a corridor or a shop
0.3 mm (12 mil)General domestic, living roomsThe sensible domestic default
0.4 – 0.5 mm (16–20 mil)Light commercial, offices, clinicsWhere domestic grade starts failing early
0.55 mm and above (22 mil+)Heavy commercial, retail, hospitalsSpecified by traffic, not by budget
Ask for the wear layer in writing before you buy. Two floors of identical thickness, pattern and price can have very different wear layers, and that difference is invisible when you look at a sample. If a supplier cannot tell you the figure, they either do not know or would rather you did not. Total thickness is not a substitute — a thick floor with a thin wear layer wears out just as fast.

SPC or WPC? The Rigid Core Question

FactorSPC (Stone Plastic Composite)WPC (Wood Plastic Composite)
CoreLimestone-based — denser, harderWood-flour based — lighter, more cushioned
Dent resistanceBetter — handles heavy furniture and point loadsMore prone to denting
Underfoot feelHarder, more like tileSofter, warmer, quieter
Thickness for same strengthThinner — better for door clearanceThicker
Best forCommercial, kitchens, high trafficBedrooms, living rooms, comfort-led spaces

Both are waterproof and both click together without adhesive. For the full comparison see SPC vs WPC flooring, and SPC vs vinyl.

Click-Lock or Glue-Down?

Click-Lock (Floating)

Planks lock together and float over the subfloor. Faster, no adhesive smell, and liftable later. Needs an expansion gap around the room and a reasonably flat base.

Glue-Down

Bonded directly to the subfloor. More stable under heavy rolling loads and in large open areas, and thinner overall. Needs a properly prepared, dry substrate and adhesive curing time.

Rule of thumb: click-lock for homes and quick refits, glue-down for commercial areas with trolleys, heavy furniture or very large uninterrupted spans. Either way the subfloor decides the outcome — see our installation and subfloor preparation guide for the flatness and moisture standards we work to.

Why It Suits Indian Homes and Commercial Spaces

  • Waterproof surface — monsoon damp, spills and daily mopping do not swell it the way they swell laminate or plywood
  • Easy to clean — a smooth, non-absorbent surface that does not hold stains
  • Hygienic and seamless — in roll form with welded seams there is nothing to trap dirt, which is why hospitals and clinics specify it
  • Durable — with the correct wear layer for the traffic, a decade of service is normal
  • Goes over existing tiles — no demolition, no debris, no week of chaos. Usually the deciding factor in a renovation
  • No grout lines to discolour, which is what makes old tiled floors look tired
  • Warmer and quieter than tile or stone underfoot
  • Multiple designs — wood, stone, marble and plain finishes, in matt through to gloss
  • Repairable in plank and tile formats — damage means one plank, not a relay
The honest limitation: the surface is waterproof, the joints and the subfloor are not. Water left standing works into seams and plank edges, which is why mopping technique matters more with vinyl than with tile. Our guide to cleaning and maintaining vinyl flooring covers it — along with why a steam mop will ruin it.

What Determines the Price of PVC Flooring

Our PVC flooring starts from ₹10 per sq ft — a genuine starting rate for economy roll material, not a finished price for a laid floor. What moves it:

  • Wear layer — the biggest driver, and the one that decides lifespan. Paying more here is almost always cheaper over five years
  • Format — economy roll at the bottom, rigid core SPC and premium LVT considerably higher
  • Total thickness and core — SPC and WPC cost more than thin glue-down vinyl
  • Design — realistic embossed wood and stone effects cost more than plain or basic prints
  • Subfloor preparation — levelling and moisture treatment can rival the flooring cost, and cannot be judged from a photo
  • Installation method — glue-down needs adhesive and curing time; welded seams in clinical areas are skilled labour
  • Accessories — skirting, beading, transition profiles and stair nosings
  • Area — rate per sq ft falls on larger jobs
Where to spend: wear layer and subfloor preparation. Both are invisible in a showroom and both decide whether the floor lasts. Where to save: design realism in rooms nobody studies closely, and format — a good roll with a proper wear layer beats a cheap plank with a thin one. Frequently Asked Questions

Is PVC flooring the same as vinyl flooring?
Yes. PVC is the material — polyvinyl chloride — and vinyl is the name it is sold under. In India both terms are used for the same product, and PVC flooring more often refers to roll or sheet form while vinyl is used for planks and tiles, but there is no material difference. What does differ between products is the wear layer, the core and the format, which is what you should compare rather than the name.
What wear layer do I need?
Roughly 0.3 mm (12 mil) for general domestic use, 0.4 to 0.55 mm for light commercial such as offices and clinics, and 0.55 mm or more for retail and heavy traffic. Economy grades at 0.1 to 0.2 mm are fine in a bedroom and will fail early in a corridor. Ask for the figure in writing — two floors of identical thickness and price can have very different wear layers, and you cannot see the difference in a sample.
What is the difference between SPC and WPC?
The core. SPC has a limestone-based core — denser, harder, more dent resistant, and thinner for the same strength, which helps with door clearance. WPC has a wood-flour core, making it lighter, warmer and quieter underfoot but more prone to denting. Both are waterproof and both click together without adhesive. SPC for kitchens and commercial traffic, WPC for bedrooms and comfort.
Can PVC flooring be laid over existing tiles?
Usually yes, and it is a major reason people choose it for renovations — no demolition, no debris. The tiles must be firmly bonded with no hollow sections, reasonably level, and dry, and grout lines generally need filling first so they do not telegraph through thinner vinyl. Check door clearance too, since the floor gains height. Loose, cracked or damp-affected tiles should be removed instead.
Is PVC flooring really waterproof?
The surface is, which is why it suits kitchens, bathrooms and monsoon conditions far better than laminate or engineered wood. The joints and the subfloor beneath are not, so water left standing will work into seams and plank edges over time. That means mopping with a barely damp mop rather than flooding the floor — and never a steam mop, which forces heat and moisture into the joints and can void the warranty.
How much does PVC flooring cost?
Our range starts from ₹10 per sq ft, which is a genuine starting rate for economy roll material rather than a finished laid price. The drivers are wear layer, format, thickness and core, design realism, subfloor preparation, installation method and accessories. Subfloor preparation is the item most often missing from a cheap quote, so ask what each quotation includes before comparing them.
Do you supply and install across Noida, Faridabad, Gurgaon and Delhi?
Yes — homes, offices, clinics, schools, retail, gyms and industrial units across Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, Delhi, Gurgaon and Ghaziabad from our Noida and Faridabad locations. We survey the subfloor before quoting, because flatness and moisture affect both the price and the result, and we will tell you plainly if levelling is needed before anything is laid.

Get the Wear Layer Right First Time

Tell us the rooms, the traffic and roughly the area. We'll specify format and wear layer for how the floor will actually be used, survey the subfloor honestly, and quote material and preparation separately.

Formats, thicknesses, wear layers and properties described here are the options commonly available in the Indian market and are general guidance, not a stock list or quotation. The ₹10 per sq ft figure is our published starting rate for economy roll material and is not a finished laid price. Wear layer, fire and slip performance depend on the specific product supplied — refer to the manufacturer's datasheet. Subfloor condition can only be assessed on site and materially affects both cost and outcome.
